The European Commission has given its unconditional approval to the £11.7 billion Twenty-First Century Fox takeover of Sky. The Commission concluded the transaction would raise no competition concerns in Europe. Under the proposals Sky, with interests in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy would combine with Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc (Fox), one of the six major Hollywood film studios (20th Century Fox), as well as a TV channel operator (Fox, National Geographic).

Two men who were part of a group convicted of conspiracy to defraud Virgin Media have been sentenced at Leicester Crown Court. M.J., 35, of Harrison Road, Leicester pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to defraud Virgin Media and was sentenced to 21 months in prison and B.B., 39, Owenford Road, Coventry pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to defraud Virgin Media and was sentenced to 19 months in prison, suspended for two years. The man behind the fraud, Mr Tailor, 51, of Hollies Way, Thurnb
